A9 Tay Crossing to Ballinluig - temporary speed restriction

Location

On the A9 between Jubilee Bridge and Ballinluig.

Description

A temporary 40mph speed restriction will be in place 24 hours a day, in both directions.

The temporary speed restriction is necessary to ensure the safety of road users and the workforce as works are carried out for the A9 Dualling: Tay Crossing to Ballinluig project.

Further changes to the temporary traffic management will be gradually implemented throughout February and March ahead of major construction commencing in Spring, this will include narrowed lanes, restrictions on right-turns and installation of a temporary roundabout – further details on these measures will be communicated in advance.

Road users should note that existing overnight traffic management in place on the route for site clearance works will continue to operate under a reduced temporary speed restriction of 30mph in works areas.

Date and time:

The speed restriction will be in place from Monday 5 January 2026 and is expected to remain in place until the dualling becomes operational by the end of 2028. The restriction will be in 24 hours a day.
