A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy - Temporary traffic signals and new road alignment near Tomatin

Changes to traffic management layouts on the A9 north of Tomatin

Road users are advised of changes to traffic management layouts on the A9 north of Tomatin as works progress to extend the current road realignment in this area.

To facilitate the new realignment, temporary traffic signals and a convoy system will be in place for one night from 19:00 on Wednesday 27 May until 06:00 on Thursday 28 May.  These temporary traffic signals and convoy system will be in place to the north of the existing realignment at Tomatin and will relocate to 500m south of the Invereen roundabout on one occasion during the night. Once stopped at the temporary traffic signals, drivers will be guided through the works by a convoy vehicle for approximately 150 metres travelling at a controlled speed.

Realignment of the A9 north of Tomatin

Following completion of the works, from Thursday 28 May, both lanes of the A9 will use the new extended temporary realignment north of Tomatin. This will support construction of the new Tomatin grade-separated junction and is expected to remain in place until around the end of 2026.

The below image outlines the route:

The temporary realignment will be clearly signposted. Local access to adjacent properties will be maintained via a dedicated temporary access junction.

Road users are advised to approach the area with care and allow extra time for their journeys whilst these works are undertaken.

Access for emergency services, pedestrians and cyclists will be maintained at all times.

As with all roadworks, arrangements are weather dependent and subject to change. please refer to the Traffic Scotland website for updates.
