A9 Dualling: Tomatin to Moy - temporary traffic signals on 17 August
Road users are advised of temporary traffic signals on the A9 from 17 August for 1 day. Construction of the new Dalmagarry side road bridge involves the transportation of large beams to the new structure from a holding area in Tomatin, which will require the use of temporary traffic signals to allow large vehicles carrying the beams to safely travel through the site and access the structure.
On 17 August, road users travelling on the A9 may encounter queuing traffic at temporary traffic signals to allow these beams to be transported to the Dalmagarry side road bridge in three locations.
On the A9, stopping northbound traffic and southbound traffic at the Tomatin North junction to allow for the large construction vehicles to safely transport beams to allow installation.
On the A9, stopping southbound traffic at the Ruthven Road junction to allow for the large construction vehicles to safely turn into the junction.
At the Ruthven Road junction, stopping all traffic from Ruthven Road to the A9 to allow for the large construction vehicles to safely transport beams onto the A9.
Signals in all locations will operate on an “all red” phase for up to ten minutes at a time, with a maximum of three activations. This will occur in daytime hours between 08:00 – 20:00. Staff will be on site to help minimise disruption.

These short, controlled stoppages are necessary to ensure that road users are kept safe due to the size of these beams, while keeping any impact on road users and journey times to a minimum.
We do not expect that these temporary traffic signals will result in significant disruption at any of these locations, due to their infrequent use.
